Rebecca and Andrew

These two were troopers! As soon as the sun started to go down it got COLD fast, I guess that is just Columbus, Ohio for you! We dodged the rain on Easter Sunday and pushed their engagement session up to Friday to make sure we weren’t rained out. Congrats on the engagement you two!

Engagement Photography in FILM!!!!

So, after talking with my mentor/my own wedding photographer, I ended up picking up a used medium format camera. It’s been a trip! I finally got a scanner ( the Epson V600′s are back in stock people, get one quick!) and started scanning some film last night. Here is what I had time to scan and lightly edit:

This may not be wedding photography, but it was definitely a fun event. It was good to go back and see a lot of familiar faces ( I commissioned through OSU AROTC) and watch everyone have a good time. The night was filled with laughter and the keynote speaker delivered a wonderful message of leadership. The event was held at the River Club at Confluence Park which always has stunning views of downtown Columbus and delicious food.

Hooah!

Megan and Dominic

Had a lot of fun with these two today. The weather didn’t quite cooperate but they made the best of it like true OSU fans.

Love them! Love you both!!!! See, I CAN get with the program!

Oldies but Goodies

New long term goal. Shoot 120 film out of either of these cameras and develop the negatives myself. Should be pretty awesome.

I have a 116 spool from the Ansco that I bought if you’re interested. Just let me know. I could meet you somewhere like World of Used Photography if you want.

I bought an Ansco Viking Ready Set off of the ‘bay not realizing it didn’t take 120 film. Been looking for a clean 120 folder for a reasonable price ever since.

Do you develop your film at home? If not, you should give it a try. It’s the most fun I’ve had in the kitchen since high school chemistry. Not as hard as I expected, either. The hardest part is getting the chemicals.

Jeff,

You can, you just have to put quite a bit of work into it. Here’s a youtube video for the brownie. Pretty confident you can load 120 into the other one in a similar manner, just have to find 116 or 616 spools.

Should be cool, who knows !?

Jeff Preston - February 24, 2012 - 8:59 AM

Not positive, but I don’t think you can use 120 in either of those cameras.

First 120 film shots I’ve ever taken!

So, this is the first batch of negatives. Scanned these with my flatbed all in one printer and then inverted, so these arent that good of a scan. Regular scanning will make these look cool!! These are also cross processed ( ran through a C41 machine) slide film pictures. The colors look a little off because of the unusual processing. Hope to have more stuff up soon.

Weekend work!

Well, by weekend work I mean that I don’t have much time to be shooting this weekend. Unfortunate, I know. I shot a little bit last night with the Mamiya and I can’t wait to get the film processed. When I bought the camera they gave me a few practice rolls since loading 120 film is a different skill that takes some work. Anyway, they gave me slide film color balanced for daylight. So naturally I shot it in tungsten light, and I’m curious to see what cross processing it will do. Cross processing tends to put a different spin on things. Slide film and color negative use different chemicals to develop their respective films, so when you put slide film in color negative processing chemicals, you get a very different and distinctive look. Can’t wait to see what happens!

The Beast

Haha, so I got in quite a bit of trouble for this camera. It had better perform. Black and white negatives the size of a 6cm x 7cm rectangle should look pretty sweet!

Congrats Cameron! I’m sure you’ll love the RBeast. I went back to shooting film last year with an RB 67 Pro S myself and L O V E it! Also, started processing at home and scanning as well. I live just outside of Columbus. If you ever want a film-shooting partner, drop me a line.

The New Website

Hi! Welcome to the new and improved website for Cameron Benedict Photography.

My name is, obviously, Cameron but I go by Cam most of the time.

And tonight is a very exciting night. Not only did I roll out a better looking website today but I am on the eve of the next level of my photographic abilities. While most people are charging forward looking for the next best digital SLR. I’m going to be rolling back the clock a little bit and having some fun trying to create some awesome photos using, of course, natural light.  Tomorrow is a big day. I’ll let you know how it goes!
